Derivation of Predator Functional Responses Using a Mechanistic Approach in a Natural System

چکیده
The functional response is at the core of any predator-prey interactions as it establishes link between trophic levels. use inaccurate can profoundly affect outcomes population and community models. Yet most responses are evaluated using phenomenological models which often fail to discriminate among shapes cannot identify proximate mechanisms regulating predator acquisition rates. Using a combination behavioral, demographic, experimental data collected over 20 years, we develop mechanistic model based on species traits behavior assess generalist mammalian predator, arctic fox ( Vulpes lagopus ), various tundra prey (lemmings nests geese, passerines, sandpipers). Predator rates derived from were consistent with field observations. Although slightly decrease high goose nest lemming densities, none our simulations resulted in saturating all species. Our results highlight importance searching components interactions, especially speed, while not limited by handling processes. By combining theory observations, study provides support that rate systematically highest densities observed natural system. also illustrates how empirical estimates main predation generate specific range wild. Such needed fully untangle drivers dynamics improve understanding predator-mediated communities.

Stability analysis of a fractional order prey-predator system with nonmonotonic functional response
In this paper, we introduce fractional order of a planar fractional prey-predator system with a nonmonotonic functional response and anti-predator behaviour such that the adult preys can attack vulnerable predators. We analyze the existence and stability of all possible equilibria. Numerical simulations reveal that anti-predator behaviour not only makes the coexistence of the prey and predator ...
متن کاملA derivation of Holling's type I, II and III functional responses in predator-prey systems.
Predator-prey dynamics is most simply and commonly described by Lotka-Volterra-type ordinary differential equations (ODEs) for continuous population density variables in the limit of large population sizes. One popular extension of these ODEs is the so-called Rosenzweig-MacArthur model in which various interaction rates between the populations have a nonlinear dependence on the prey concentrati...
متن کاملa frame semantic approach to the study of translating cultural scripts in salingers franny and zooey
the frame semantic theory is a nascent approach in the area of translation studies which goes beyond the linguistic barriers and helps us to incorporate cognitive and cultural factors to the study of translation. based on rojos analytical model (2002b), which centered in the frames or knowledge structures activated in the text, the present research explores the various translation problems that...
